The government of the Republic of Ireland is currently considering what should be final submissions on the anticipated Renewable Electricity Support Scheme which is due to be published in June 2017.
Following its publication, legislation is widely expected to be enacted which will allow for a feed-in-tariff or similar incentive to be paid to owners of Solar PV systems operating in Ireland as has been the case for wind farms for the last number of years.
It is quite possible to expect the first solar farms to be under construction in Ireland before the end of 2017.
This is an excellent opportunity for land owners to earn a long-term index-linked income by leasing out land, which could be of poor quality, or to develop the land to the point where a solar installation receives full planning permission and is ready to build.
We are a 100% Irish owned company located in Ferns, Co.Wexford and for the last 10 years we have been involved with the development, installation and sale of large scale ground mount and rooftop solar farms in the UK, Germany, Italy and the USA. We are very well connected across the solar industry with all the bankable module manufacturers, as well as many investment funds based in Europe, Asia and the US who want to invest into solar farms in Ireland.
There are options open to land owners to fully develop sites to the point they are ready to build and we can assist and advise on a consultancy basis as required.
If you just want to lease your land, partly or fully develop a solar farm, as an independent company, we can bring your project to several of our clients and achieve the best price possible for you as the land owner or developer.
There may also be some JV opportunities where the land owner retains a long term interest in the project which can be discussed with investors who are open to such agreements.
We want to speak with land owners who can lease 25 acres or more of their land for a minimum of 25 years to enable the installation of a solar farm. An index-linked rental income will be paid directly to the land owner who can still use the land for grazing smaller animals such as sheep.
The lease could also be extended under 5 year options up to a total of 40 years giving a secure long term income to the land owner and their dependents.
Flat or south facing land with a gentle slope, located with 2kms of a substation is ideal and will command a higher rental income.
The opportunity is open to all land owners, however it may be ideally suited to part-time farmers who want to achieve a long term increase to their income. A solar park delivers a good, reliable income, often at a higher level achieved than by farming the land.
From the land owners side, it couldn’t be more straight forward - you simply lease the land, and we and our partners take care of all the planning and grid applications, design, build-out and maintenance of the project.
Please contact us to discuss this further and we can discuss with you all options and check if your land is suitable for a solar farm installation.
